The application of ss pipes is becoming increasingly widespread, and the technical requirements for stainless steel pipes are also rising. Consequently, a series of stainless steel processing products have gradually entered our daily lives.
Wire drawing of stainless steel pipes involves sanding the surface of the bright stainless steel pipe to create a matte finish instead of a shiny one. This raises a question: does surface treatment mean it's no longer resistant to rust?
Certainly, the rust resistance will be weakened, but it doesn't mean it's completely susceptible to rust. The reason ss pipes are resistant to rust and corrosion is due to the presence of nickel on the surface, which forms a protective oxide layer. After wire drawing, the surface nickel elements are damaged, thus reducing the corrosion resistance to some extent. However, it doesn't mean it's completely vulnerable to rust. Therefore, wire-drawn pipes should preferably not be used in outdoor exposed areas. When used indoors, stainless steel wire-drawn pipes are not only aesthetically pleasing but also provide sufficient rust resistance for indoor environments. However, if used outdoors, proper maintenance should be taken into consideration.
