Thin-wall stainless steel pipes are integral components in various construction projects, offering durability and corrosion resistance. However, their proper construction and installation are critical for ensuring longevity and optimal performance. Here are essential guidelines for the professional construction and installation of thin-wall stainless steel tube:

 

1. Avoid Direct Contact with Cement and Concrete

Thin-wall stainless steel pipes and fittings should not come into direct contact with cement, cement mortar, or concrete. During concealed installations, utilize anti-corrosion tape on the outer wall of the pipe or opt for plastic-coated thin-wall stainless steel pipes.

 

2. Use Insulation Materials with Cement Mortar

When using cement mortar to fill concealed pipes, incorporate insulation materials to create a gap between the cement mortar and the stainless steel pipe. This ensures the pipe can freely expand and contract without constraint.

 

3. Employ Plastic-Coated Stainless Steel Pipes for Burial

For buried applications, utilize plastic-coated thin-wall stainless steel tube, particularly type 316, to safeguard against acid and alkali corrosion or damage from sharp debris. Alternative anti-corrosion measures include wrapping with polyethylene tape, vinyl chloride tape, asphalt paint, epoxy resin, or fiberglass plastic cloth.

 

4. Install Telescopic Compensation Devices

Ensure the pipeline is equipped with telescopic compensation devices and appropriate brackets to control expansion and contraction. For exposed or unburied hot water pipes exceeding 10-15m in straight length, implement axial compensation measures. Use stainless steel corrugated expansion joints or linear temperature compensators for nominal diameters exceeding 50mm.

 

5. Prevent Condensation in Open Buildings

Implement condensation prevention measures for thin-wall stainless steel pipes used in water supply systems within open buildings. Additionally, insulate thin-walled stainless steel pipes for hot water applications.

 

6. Maintain Uniform Supply of Pipes and Fittings

Source pipes and fittings uniformly from suppliers, avoiding the welding of stainless steels of different grades.

 

7. Transition Threads with Wire Fittings

When connecting accessories such as threaded valves, water nozzles, or water meters to thin-walled stainless steel pipes, avoid placing threads directly on the pipes. Instead, transition through wire fittings like adapters.

 

8. Prevent Oil Pollution and Physical Damage

Exercise caution during construction to prevent oil pollution, which can deteriorate rubber sealing rings, and avoid collisions with sharp objects that may cause water leakage from stainless steel pipes and fittings.

 

9. Flush and Disinfect After Installation

After installing the pipeline and passing the pressure test, flush it with low chloride ion water and disinfect it using a 0.03% potassium permanganate aqueous solution.
